Pada Microsoft Word 2007 terdapat sebuah fungsi yang memungkinkan anda untuk mengunci pemberian format pada sebuah dokumen. Maksudnya, jika anda mengaktifkan fungsi ini pada dokumen milik anda, siapa pun tidak akan dapat memberikan format – baik itu bold, italic, underline, atau mengubah jenis dan ukuran huruf – jika tidak mengetahui password-nya.

Penguncian formatting ini juga diguna supaya “pembaca” tidak dapat menambahkan style apa pun pada dokumen serta tidak dapat mengubah warnanya. Shortcut keyboard untuk melakukan pemformatan seperti tombol [Ctrl] + [B], [Ctrl] + [I] dan sejenisnya juga turut dinonaktifkan.

Tertarik untuk mengaplikasikan trik ini pada PC anda? Ikuti langkah-langkah di bawah ini:

1. Jalankan Microsoft Word, kemudian buka dokumen yang ingin anda kunci formatnya melalui menu [File] > [Open].
2. Setelah dokumen terbuka, klik [Review] > [Protect Document] > [Restrict Formatting and Editing].
3. Di bahagian kanan tetingkap akan muncul Task Pane Restrict Formatting and Editing. Tandakan checkbox di bahagian [Limit formatting a selection of styles]. Dengan cara ini maka tidak akan ada orang yang dapat mengubah seting format di dokumen anda.
4. Untuk mengaplikasikan perubahan yang telah anda lakukan, klik tombol [Yes, Start Enforcing Protection].
5. Setelah anda klik tombol tersebut, akan muncul sebuah kotak dialog yang akan meminta anda untuk memasukkan password. Password tersebut nantinya dapat digunakan untuk menonaktifkan kembali penguncian formatting.

Sekarang dokumen anda telah aman dari tangan-tangan jahil yang merusak format dokumen yang telah anda buat. Untuk mengaktifkan kembali proteksi ini, klik [Review] > [Protect Document] > [Restrict Formatting and Editing] > [Stop Protection] kemudian masukkan password yang sudah anda tentukan tadi.

After the death of Windows XP, almost all notebook PCs come with Windows Vista pre-installed. But if you like Windows XP more than Windows Vista then a simple Windows XP wouldn’t suffice for installing it on your notebook PC. If you BIOS has an option to change your hard disk mode from SATA to IDE then you can just pop in the good old Windows XP CD and get it set up within minutes. But if it doesn’t, then you have to do it the other way as mentioned below.

You will just be requiring the Windows XP CD and a few softwares and stuff that I will tell you as we go along. You might ask just why wouldn’t a normal XP CD do the task? The answer is pretty simple. The original Windows XP CD does not have SATA drivers so it can’t detect your hard drive during the installation process. The solution is simpler. Just slipstream them into the CD! So lets begin.

Step 1 :  Download and install nLite

This is an amazing software that lets you tweak and hack your XP CD to the core with an extremely easy to use UI. Download and install the software from here.

Step 2 : Download SATA drivers

You need to get your hands on the SATA drivers next, that you will need to slipstream into the CD. Although there are different version based on your motherboard that you can search them on Intel website or download the standard ones here, which work with most of the motherboards. After downloading extract the driver and remember the location.

Step 3 : Insert XP CD and start nLite

Now that you successfully have the tools and utilities, we can get down with the real stuff. Launch nLite after inserting Windows XP CD into the drive. Choose to make an image of Windows XP in a directory of your choice. Click next and proceed to skip import or load previous settings step by clicking next and proceed to next step.

Step 4 : Add the SATA driver

On the next page, you will find a “Drivers” tab. Click on it and also check the bootable ISO option and then click on next. Click on the button at the bottom to insert the driver. Give the location to the folder where you extracted the SATA driver. You will find a couple of inf files, select any one of them. Now select the all the driver files. That is it, click Next.

Step 5 : Burn the ISO

You will now be asked for confirmation, select yes and let nLite integrate the driver and create a bootable image. Burn it on a CD by just hitting the Burn button at the bottom and you will be ready to install Windows XP on your laptop!

Sistem operasi Microsoft Windows 2000 merupakan salah satu sistem operasi yang cukup mudah untuk urusan jaringan. Oleh itu, tak hairan jika banyak syarikat yang menggunakan sistem operasi ini pada seluruh komputer yang disambung ke jaringan.

Tidak kurang, program-program berasaskan DOS masih tetap digunakan walaupun sistem operasi utama anda adalah Windows 2000. Tindakan anda tidak salah, kerana program-program tersebut tetap dapat bekerja dengan baik dan cepat di atas sistem operasi Windows 2000. Hanya saja, untuk urusan percetakan Windows 2000 memiliki sedikit masalah dengan program-program berasaskan DOS. Respon semasa melakukan pencetakan terasa lebih lambat dibandingkan semasa mencetak dokumen yang dibuka oleh aplikasi berasaskan Windows.

Jawapan untuk permasalahan diatas dapat anda lakukan dengan cara:
1. Jalankan Registry Editor dengan mengklik [Start] kemudian taip regedit.exe.
2. Masuk ke subkey HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-SYSTEM-CurrentControlSet-Control-WOW.
3. Carilah String Value dengan nama LPT_timeout, kemudian klik dua kali String Value tersebut.
4. Ubahlah Value Data yang sebelumnya bernilai 15 menjadi 3.
5. Klik [OK] lalu tutup tetingkap Registry Editor. Sekarang, cubalah untuk mencetak kembali melalui Command Prompt.

Setelah meng-install semula Windows, tentunya anda perlu melakukan install semula aplikasi-aplikasi lain yang diperlukan. Proses install semula tidak akan menyusahkan apabila aplikasi yang anda install itu adalah aplikasi-aplikasi standart. Yang akan menjadi masalah adalah ketika anda meng-install semula aplikasi lain yang mengharuskan pengaktifan seperti yang harus dilakukan ketika meng-install Windows. Salah satu aplikasi yang akan meminta pengaktifan semasa anda melakukan install semula adalah Microsoft Office.

Seperti pada Windows, anda juga bisa menggunakan  Office agar activation semula tidak perlu dilakukan. Secara dasarnya langkah-langkah yang diperlukan juga sama, yaitu dengan melakukan back-up data aktivation dan me-restore-nya sesuai proses install semula Windows dan Office. Perbezaannya terletak pada lokasi dan file yang harus di back-up.

Untuk lebih jelasnya, ikuti langkah-langkah berikut sebelum anda meng-install semula Windows:

1. 1. Jalankan Windows Explorer melalui menu [Start] > [All Programs] > [Accessories] > [Windows Explorer].
2. Buat sebuah folder baru untuk menyimpan file backup. Jika anda ingin melakukan backup di disket, masukkan disket anda ke disk drive.
3. Masuklah ke folder C:-Documents and Settings-All Users-Application Data-Microsoft-Office-Data-.
4. Pada folder Data akan muncul dua file dengan nama data.dat dan data.bak. Salin kedua file ini ke folder yang baru anda buat atau ke disket yang telah disiapkan.

Setelah langkah-langkah diatas dilakukan, anda dapat meng-install semula Windows dan dilanjutkan dengan installation Office. Di akhir installation Office, anda akan diminta untuk melakukan restart Windows. Sampai di sini anda masih belum boleh menjalankan aplikasi-aplikasi Office kerana anda belum me-restore file aktivation.

Maka dari itu, ikuti permintaan restart dari program installer. Selanjutnya:

1. Jalankan Safe Mode Windows.
2. Masuklah ke folder tempat anda back-up kedua file diatas, kemudian salin kembali ke folder C:-Documents and Settings-All Users-Application Data-Microsoft-Office-Data-.
3. Semasa muncul konfirmasi untuk melakukan overwrite, jawab dengan [Yes].
4. Terakhir, restart PC dan aplikasi-aplikasi Office anda tidak akan meminta aktivasi untuk yang kedua kalinya.

Harus diingat, trik ini bukan untuk melakukan crack terhadap aktivation Office, melainkan untuk menggunakan Office agar anda tidak perlu melakukan aktivation secara berulang. Jadi, anda tidak dapat menggunakan trik ini apabila sebelumnya tidak pernah melakukan proses aktivation.

Sebenarnya masalah ini wujud sejak tahun 2007 lagi dan pihak Microsoft sudah diberitahu mengenainya.

Microsoft Excel 2007 mempunyai masalah untuk menyelesaikan masalah darab (multiply) yang berakhir dengan jawapan 65,535.

Apabila pengiraan darab yang memberi jawapan 65,535, Microsoft Excel 2007 akan memberi jawapan default 100,000.

Masalah ini sudah disampaikan kepada pihak Microsoft dan mereka berjanji untuk menyelesaikannya.

Malang sehingga ke hari ini, masalah ini masih tiada jalan penyelesaian dari pihak Microsoft dan mungkin juga dari Texas Instrument.

Cuba kita selesaikan masalah darab dibawah dengan menggunakan Microsoft Excel 2007, pasti jawapannya akan menjadi 100,000
